Tune a guitar, bass, ukulele, violin or any other instrument with your microphone. Pick the instrument and tuning, play one string at a time, and the needle shows how far sharp or flat you are in cents. Tap a string to hear its reference pitch. Hold the instrument close to the microphone in a quiet room and play one open string at a time. Space bar starts and stops.
Auto picks the string closest to what it hears. Tap a string to lock to it and hear its reference tone, tap again to stop the tone.
440 Hz is the standard concert pitch. Orchestras sometimes tune to 442 or 443, and some players prefer 432. Every string follows the reference.
Electric instrument with no amp nearby? Play unplugged next to the mic, or point the mic at the amp. The reference tone comes out of your speakers, so headphones keep it out of the microphone.
